Job Title:  Member Education and Mobilization Director
Reports To:  Senior VP of Governmental Affairs
Group: Governmental Affairs

The Member Education and Mobilization Director oversees REALTOR® education and mobilization and directs communications related to the advancement of the policy and political objectives of the Governmental Affairs Department. The Director develops REALTOR® member communications and education, creates content and assures cohesion in the messaging to members.  Works with the C.A.R. Communications Department as necessary. The Director is responsible for developing and carrying out C.A.R.’ grassroots strategy to educate and mobilize members; These objectives may be related to policy objectives including RED ALERTS (C.A.R.) and Calls for Action (NAR) and may also encompass supporting political objectives such as those related to local, state or federal candidates, as well as issue and ballot measure campaigns. 

The Director supervises a team of four Field Representatives that continuously engage members in C.A.R.'s Government Affairs activities, build a political network that is ready to engage when necessary, and provides training to local associations to strengthen the government affairs engagement of local associations in their community and C.A.R.’s Government Affairs programs. 

The Director should have experience in the field of communications, or related experience including: strong writing abilities, strong communications skills and a high level of comfort with public speaking; Management experience. Experience in or around Government Affairs, fundraising, public policy and/or political campaigns are strong qualifications for this position.

The Director also develops and implements a member education content that promotes the activities and the value of the Government Affairs Program objectives to REALTORS®. The Director is responsible to develop and promote the REALTOR® Action Fund (RAF) and assures support, continuity and compliance of these programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Governmental Affairs Department communications content and strategy by developing messaging to members and may provide input to the external communications as well.
  • Responsible for developing grassroots and communications strategy; mobilizes REALTOR® response and engagement related to accomplishing Governmental Affairs objectives. 
  • Manages a Team of four Governmental Affairs Field Representatives to support program objectives.
  • Works with the RAF coordinator on activities that support the REALTOR® Action Fund committee, including all special events and related activities to grow the base of funding support, and assures provides reports to assure compliance for legal and tax purposes.
  • Develop social media channels and contribute content aimed at communicating with members and ensures that consistent messaging to members occurs.
  • Oversees annual member education programs that complement Governmental Affairs objectives.
  • Directly Engages with the Membership of the organization and its Leadership which will require strong communication and public speaking experience. 
  • Travel 15%

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong communications background and experience in government affairs, public policy, political campaigns, or other similar experience. Member mobilization, Program management development, desired. 
  • Strong communication strategy background.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to reach each individual’s full potential 
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage large and small projects and prioritize
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to work and achieve goals independently
  • Must have own car and insurance
  • Should be able to make effective and persuasive presentations to various audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing original content on policies and/or political topics.,
  • Outstanding customer service orientation. 
  • Ability to function effectively in a variety of challenging situations and circumstances, including difficult project deadlines, demanding customers, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance.
  • Consistency in giving feedback regarding work progress, timetable and issues.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work with political advocacy software including Political Data Inc., Aristotle or other similar platforms.
