We are pleased to announce that C.A.R. is once again providing the Legislative Day Scholarship Fund to our members. By being a scholarship recipient, your local association can be reimbursed a portion* of the costs for bringing first time members to Legislative Day. This money can be used to help underwrite travel, hotel, and meals.

LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS :Download your scholarship form here!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Local associations identify and recruit “Legislative Day First Timer” REALTORS®. These REALTORS® must be able to participate in the Legislative Day 101 webinar on either April 21st or April 22nd AND attend both the Morning Briefing and the legislative office visit on Legislative Day- Tuesday, April 28, 2020.  *Members only need to attend  ONE webinar. ** REGISTER FOR LEG DAY 101 HERE.

  2. AOR’s submit their scholarship nominee names to C.A.R. between February 28th and April 3rd using the registration form. PLEASE KEEP THIS FORM IN AN EXCEL FORMAT. Email the completed form to Mandy Morello at [email protected]

  3. Scholarship funds are limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified who will receive the scholarships the week following deadline (Any additional names submitted, over and above your allotted scholarship space, will be put on a wait list determined by when their name is submitted. Again, we will notify you before Legislative Day if we can reimburse for that REALTOR®.

  4. After Legislative Day, local associations must submit the final form certifying their registered scholarship attendees attended the Morning Briefing and the legislative office visit. C.A.R. will send your association a check and then you reimburse your members as appropriate.

The fine print:

  1. The Scholarship Program is a REIMBURSEMENT program to the Local Association for sending ‘First Timers” to Legislative Day. The reimbursement from C.A.R. is NOT to the individual members. The individual AOR is responsible for reimbursing the member IF the member paid out of pocket.

  2. Reimbursable expenses include: mileage, airfare, bus rental, meals, lodging.

  3. Only REALTORS® can be registered for this program.

  4. The AOR is responsible for determining if their scholarship nominee has attended Legislative Day previously. Only “Legislative Day First Timers” are eligible for reimbursement.

  5. All members attending Legislative Day as a scholarship recipient, must attend a Legislative Day 101 webinar PRIOR to Legislative Day and at least two leadership training events AFTER Legislative Day. Leadership trainings are conducted via conference call and webinar for your convenience.

  6. All members attending Legislative Day as scholarship recipients must attend the Morning Briefing and the office visit to receive reimbursement.

  7. Scholarship funds CANNOT be used to reimburse members for contributing to the REALTOR® Action Fund. If they wish to attend the Capitol Reception, they must be contributors to RAF, and again, they cannot legally be reimbursed for contributing.

  8. *The amount of the scholarship is determined by the distance between the local AOR office and the Sacramento Convention Center as listed in MapQuest.

For associations over 250 miles away from Sacramento: We have set aside two spots for each association over 1000 members, and one spot for each association with under 1000 members. You must submit your names by April 3rd or you will lose those slots.
