A newly released report by the Center for California Real Estate (CCRE), an institute of C.A.R., outlines proposed solutions to California’s growing homeowners insurance challenges. The publication presents a clear roadmap of actionable strategies—including expanding insurer participation by streamlining rate approvals and addressing regulatory price suppression, as well as embedding wildfire mitigation into home values.
It also highlights how REALTORS® can help bridge the gap between consumers, risk reduction, and insurance options—reinforcing their role as trusted community advisors. The report draws on insights from a closed-door strategy session convened by CCRE on May 28 in Sacramento, where state and national leaders from academia, consumer advocacy, wildfire mitigation, the insurance and building industries, and members of C.A.R.’s leadership team came together to confront the state’s escalating insurance crisis.
This report will be shared with key stakeholders—including Sandbox participants and C.A.R.’s Insurance Task Force—as a resource to help shape future policy recommendations and advocacy efforts.
