Job Title: VMWare Windows Systems Administrator

Reports To: IT Supervisor

Group: Operations - IT

The CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic VMWare Windows Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team! The VMWare Windows Systems Administrator performs data center systems engineering, systems administration, and centralized operations and management of the Association’s computing facilities and environment. The environment is comprised of multiple virtualized VMWare datacenters running Microsoft Windows servers, SQL Servers, storage servers, and specialized virtual appliances. 

Responsibilities

Perform Systems Engineering

  • Operational Capacity Planning, and engineering appropriate virtual systems, servers, appliances, and environments
  • Develop Operational and Security Standards, Procedures, Practices, Documentation
  • Manage, plan, and report quarterly on software license utilization

Manage and Perform Systems Administration

  • Administer Microsoft and VMware systems and servers
  • Manage VM Backups using Veeam Enterprise
  • Plan, test, and install server patches, and administer centralized anti-virus, and anti-malware
  • Harden systems using vulnerability analysis tools such as Qualys
  • Administer host intrusion detection and prevention
  • Provide Operational Metrics & Reporting
  • Support services like Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, SMTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NTP

Demonstrate ability to make independent and appropriate decisions without direct supervision.

Minimum education required.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred

 

Minimum Experience Required

  • Five years of successful experience in a similar role (with similar responsibilities).
  • Three years of experience administering a VMWare Virtual Server environment 

Skills Required

  • Ability to multi-task while solving issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to listen to and objectively consider ideas and suggestions from others.
  • Must be a results-oriented team player.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and outstanding customer service orientation.
  • Ability to function effectively in a variety of challenging situations and circumstances, including difficult project deadlines, demanding customers, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance.
  • Consistency in giving feedback regarding work progress, timetable and issues.
