In fact, we’re pretty cool (or so we think), and we’re a powerful voice for housing in California. We also think we’re an awesome company to work for. So here’s what you need to know about the job:

The Role:

We are seeking a Quality Assurance and Training Specialist to join our strong and growing Information Technology group at the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.). This person will work in conjunction with the application development team and will be responsible for monitoring, testing and proposing solutions to correct and improve C.A.R.s applications and processes to meet established standards. This role will also train other staff on the new features that are being tested prior to release.

The Quality Assurance and Training Specialist creates test plans and test cases for the web properties at C.A.R. and reviews applications and technical specifications implemented at C.A.R. The application portfolio is very broad ranging from communication tools to mobile applications, internal data processing applications, database applications, and applications that support our members’ specific business. The Quality Assurance and Training Specialist will plan, prioritize, and coordinate the testing process. Lots of variety – you won’t be bored!

Key Responsibilities:

Application/Product testing, test automation, training:

  • Create and document test plans and test cases
  • Create/code automated test using automation tools
  • Develop quality assurance standards and processes
  • Communicate with appropriate team members to relay the issues found
  • Work with development team to address issues/bugs
  • Create reports documenting the issues found during QA testing
  • Perform manual and automated testing
  • Create manuals for staff on the use of features and tools being tested
  • Conduct training for staff on the tools, features and programs being tested prior to release

Application/Product analysis, defect detection:

  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Identify, document and track bugs/defects/issues
  • Ensure the application/process meets the requirements and business specifications
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the training provided to staff and adjust accordingly

Research, Development, Team Development:

  • Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
  • Coordinate requirements, schedules, and activities, contribute to team meetings, and troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Provide support to colleagues and staff in the appropriate use of the solutions delivered. Conduct root cause analysis on customer issues and determine the best way to resolve them.
  • Assess new architectures and technologies and determine which to implement to achieve the best business result. Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A College degree in Information Technology or Computer Science related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting systems and related systems.
  • 3+ years of successful experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities.
  • Experience with creating test plans.
  • Ability to code automated tests using automation tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, Katalon, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with various QA/Testing tools and technologies such as Azure DevOps or TFS, JIRA, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Knowledge of SQL and scripting.
  • Experience as an IT or technical trainer.
  • Ability to analyze problems in existing code and procedures and come up with appropriate solutions.
