Red Alert Update:

Senate Passes C.A.R. OPPOSED Bill to Effectively Mandate Participation in Section 8


Thank you so much for your help in the recent effort to oppose SB 329, which would effectively force landlords to participate in Section 8. Unfortunately, SB 329 passed out of the Senate Floor last night by 4 votes and will go to the Assembly for consideration.

While this wasn't the outcome we wanted, it was gratifying to see California REALTORS® reach new heights of engagement -- we made over 2700 calls to our State Senators in this Red Alert effort in just a few days. We can't thank you enough for your continued involvement in these efforts and will continue to fight to protect homeownership and property rights across the state.

Some good news: C.A.R.-sponsored First-time Homebuyer Tax Credit bill, AB 1590, passed out of the State Assembly yesterday and will move on to the Senate.

Here is how your state Senators and Assembly members voted on these two bills:

SB 329 (Mitchell) - Those who voted NO or did not vote supported C.A.R.'s OPPOSE position
