$300 (non-refundable). Filing costs are paid directly to the Center and are due with submission of your Request for Mediation. If the initiating party advances the filing cost, as a courtesy, your mediator will adjust the below mediation fees as provided below.
$175 per hour, first two (2) hours. Mediator’s hourly rate thereafter. A minimum of three (3) hours of mediation time is required. unless otherwise noted in the fee and policy schedule. Mediation fees are paid directly to the mediator and your mediator will provide you with payment procedure information as part of the scheduling process.
Each mediator on the panel is an independent contractor and sets his/her own hourly rates. Hourly rates and filing costs are split equally among the parties or per agreement. If the initiating party has advanced the full $300 filing cost, an adjustment will be made in the mediator billings to the parties so the initiating party may reduce his/her deposit to the mediator for any portion of the filing cost not paid by responding party and responding party’s deposit obligation will be increased by such amount. It is the sole responsibility of the initiating party to timely note any errors in the mediator billings and no reimbursement of filing costs will be made by the mediator.
In general, Center mediators agree to provide travel time, brief review, and preparation time without charge. However, travel fees may apply for mediations that do not occur at the office of the mediator and require extensive travel time by the mediator, as noted in the fee and policy schedule. For complex disputes, disputes arising out of an agreement that is not a C.A.R. standard form agreement, or disputes that require extensive review of documents in advance of the mediation, preparation fees may apply and in such case you will be notified by your mediators prior to scheduling the mediation.
