Each mediator on the panel is an independent contractor and sets his/her own hourly rates. Hourly rates and filing costs are split equally among the parties or per agreement. If the initiating party has advanced the full $400 filing cost, an adjustment will be made in the mediator billings to the parties so the initiating party may reduce his/her deposit to the mediator for any portion of the filing cost not paid by responding party and responding party’s deposit obligation will be increased by such amount. It is the sole responsibility of the initiating party to timely note any errors in the mediator billings and no reimbursement of filing costs will be made by the mediator.
In general, Center mediators provide scheduling, local travel and preparation time without charge for up to two hours and charge their hourly rate thereafter. The parties and their counsel are encouraged to independently coordinate their availability for mediation to avoid incurring excess fees. For complex disputes, disputes arising out of an agreement that is not a C.A.R. standard form agreement, or disputes that require extensive review of documents in advance of the mediation, preparation fees may apply as provided by your mediator. See the fee and policy schedule for further details.
