It’s no secret that a short sale process can take months to close, requiring cooperation from a buyer, seller, the primary lien-holder and any secondary lien-holders.
To help facilitate an already difficult process, C.A.R. created the Short Sale Assistance Desk (SSAD) to allow Real Estate agents to submit their cases directly to Fannie Mae. Fannie Mae must be the primary lender for the case, and the MLS must have an agreement with Fannie Mae to use the SSAD.
A real estate professional who uses the SSAD must be a subscriber of the participating MLS, must be the listing agent for the property, and must obtain a signed Borrower Authorization Form (BAF) from the homeowner(s). Once submitted, the information is packaged, encrypted, and immediately e-mailed to Fannie Mae.
C.A.R.’s SSAD is offered free to any MLS within California. Outside of California, the SSAD is available to any MLS for an annual subscription fee of $1,500. We offer volume discounts for a state association that would like to offer the SSAD to its members in its state MLSs.
