RE: Rural Forum Meeting Invitation
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please join Rural Forum for our final meeting on Wednesday, October 7,
2009, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in San Jose, California (Please check program
to confirm room location, as this location is subject to change due to the
nature of this meeting).
We are proud to present two very important speakers at our meeting.
Our first speaker from the Natural Resources Conservation Service will
provide Rural Forum with detailed information on the varied services the
NRCS provides including: conservation plans; recommendations for cross
fencing, range seeding, brush clearing, cover crops, weed management, and
other non-engineering conservation practices; information about solar
systems for livestock water systems; mapping of soils, flood zones,
wildlife information, or other background layers that are of interest to
the land owner or manager; and information on Farm Bill Cost-Share
Programs.
Our second speaker is Dan Sharp, the Governmental Affairs Director for the
Northern Solano AOR. Mr. Sharp was involved in putting a stop to the
Transmission Agency of Northern California's (TANC) proposed
California-Oregon Transmission Project, which would have consisted of
340-miles of 500-kV transmission line that interconnected the Bonneville
Power Administration Captain Jack Substation in Southern Oregon and with
Pacific Gas and Electric Company Tesla Substation near Tracy, and the Los
Banos Substation near Los Banos.
Please join Rural Forum for our final meeting as we welcome our two
distinguished guests. Both of our speakers will be available for
Q&A. We hope to see you there!
