Notes for the June 2009, Political Affairs Meeting Notes held in
Sacramento:
Chair John Cribb called the meeting to order at 9:50 a.m. and he reported
that we collected $2.3 million to RAF. The overall percentage is 18%,
but that we have six months to reach our 24% participation goal and to
raise $3.2 million!
Alex Creel did a presentation on “REALTORS® Action Fund: Return on
Investment.” It was well received and it was placed on the website at
http://www.car.org/governmentalaffairs/raf/RAFPowerPoints/
CREPAC Trustees and IMPAC Trustees gave an update on their activities. All
is well with both groups!
RPAC/NAR Update: Dorothy Jackson reported that we had met and
exceeded our Fair Share goal for RPAC and we were the first region to be
100%. Dorothy Jackson thanked the group for making this possible and
to keep up the great work!
Vice Chair Wendy Furth reported that the new RAF Contribution Management
Services will be provided to C.A.R. by the NAR RPAC Convio and Aristotle
360 system. The new contribution management system will provide
C.A.R.’s REALTOR® Action Fund with the ability to tailor fundraising
campaigns more effectively.
Chair John Cribb facilitated a discussion on the Issues Briefing
Paper: Study the Adoption of a New Fundraising Method with
Options. After much discussion, the following motion was made:
It was moved, seconded and CARRIED that C.A.R. explore the feasibility both
legally and politically of alternate methods to collecting political
investments.
