minutes HAF Committee Meeting Minutes

8:30 am – 11:30 am

8:10am Michael DeLeon called the meeting to order – Introductions and welcome remarks made


Minutes approved


Committee Liaison Bobbie Nelson congratulated the committee on a successful golf tournament.


Committee overview, responsibilities and objectives reviewed.



A.      Fundraising:
a.   Golf Tournament was a success, raising around 30,000.  Committee discussed highlights from the tournament as well as lessons learned
b.   Gas Card Raffle – the committee needs to keep selling tickets all week long. c.   Bowling for the American Dream – has been a HUGE success.  A winner will be announced soon


B.      Program Development

  a.   EARN Presentation: Discussion by the committee.  

  b.   Discussion on potential statewide program assisting wounded vets

  c.   Straw vote taken by the committee to move forward on researching and
 developing a statewide program assisting wounded vets

C.       Bette Dobkin Award 2013
a.   Irma Soltero-Sparks will be receiving the award.  She and her family will be at the award reception on Friday.

D.      HAR Awards Reception
a.   Please sign-up to help out with registration



1.       APPROVED:  That HAF approve fund $50,000 in support of Fresno Association’s “First Look” program to provide incentives to traditional homes sellers in Fresno County  to offer 16 days to owner occupant buyers before offering their home for sale to any and all buyers

2.       APPROVED:  That HAF approve fund 10,000 in funding to produce 5-7 video to education condominium management companies, agents, and governing board members about the purpose and benefits of obtaining and maintaining approval for Federal Housing Administration FHA loan insurance and Veteran Administration (VA) loans.

3.       APPROVED: That HAF approve fund 50,000 in matching federal funds of $50,000 in support of the City of Vallejo’s HOME Investment Partnership Program – build, buy and rehabilitate affordable housing for homeownership.
