HAF Committee Meeting Minutes – January

8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Committee Liaison Allen Okamoto echoed Leadership’s support.


Committee overview, responsibilities and objectives reviewed.  Reminder to sign online confidentiality agreement



  1. APPROVED:  That HAF approved for a one year funding extension for Contra Costa AOR to use the remaining balance of funds for their first time home buyer program with the City of Walnut Creek – to provide HOA assistance to 1st home buyers.  

  2. DENIED:  That HAF provide $35,000 in funding to support BIG BEAR AOR in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Big Bear to build, purchase property, and building materials for one home in Big Bear.  


    Rizwan Uraizee provided a financial report on HAF’s current standing



  1. Fundraising:

  1. Region Contest. Every region with 100% of CAR directors contributing to HAF (any pin level) will receive 2 casino night tickets and 100 gift card. Deadline for the contest is Saturday, January 25th

  2. Casino Night – we need to start working on securing sponsors.  The levels will remain the same and all the info will be posted on the website.   Signup sheet was passed around for members to sign up to be part of the team.  Both Vice-chairs will be taking the lead on the event


  3. Golf Tournament is back at Black Gold. Sign-up sheet was passed around for members to sign up to be part of the team.

  4. Bowling for the American Dream – has been a HUGE success.  We’ll continue into next year

  5. Gas Card Raffle – we have 500 tickets available to sell. Tickets can not be sold online.   

  1.  Program

    1. REAP- Julissa Gomez provided an update: $103,500 funds have been distributed through REAP

APPROVED: That HAF will extended REAP to December 2014. 


  1.  Bette Dobkin Award 2013

    1. Team will be established to review applications. Members can sign up.

  2. HAF Awards Reception

    1. A new award will be given this year to the member who secured the most sponsors (amount)

  3. Presented new redesign to HAF committee  



  1. Senior Economist Selma Hepp gave a brief presentation on First Time  Home Buyers and Housing Affordability

  2. Ken Bates from Military Home Loans provided a brief presentation on Vet Loans and other Vet Housing Programs.
