We would like to acknowledge the following Associations that have participated in the NAR $5000 Grant Program: Burbank, California Desert, Palm Springs, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Southland Regional and TIGAR.
We know that there are several associations that are in the process of preparing their contest and some that just say it is too complicated. For those that believe it is too complicated...we have a solution to keep it simple and easy!
Simple NAR Grant Fundraising
We know that there are several associations that are in the process of preparing their contest and some that just say it is too complicated. For those that believe it is too complicated...we have a solution to keep it simple and easy!
First Step:
Purchase contest prize (limit it to one item)
Example: the new iPAD is the newest hottest item. The cost is no more than $1000. When you apply the 3 x rule, the association would need to raise $3,000, which is very doable!
Type of Contest:
"Stand alone" not attached to a special event
“Special event," such as a breakfast and/or luncheon.
"Ticket Price" Scenarios
"Stand alone" ticket prices: $20 per ticket or 3 tickets for $50.00
"Special Event" ticket prices: $50 would include lunch, or breakfast and one ticket entry into the contest. For $20 more, the participant would receive 3 additional tickets for the contest.
Second Step
Preparing the promotional flyer:
1. Need the contest start and end date for example: The contest will begin on [insert date] and end on [insert date].
2. Drawing for prize date: The drawing will be held on [insert date] September 30, 2010 at [insert time] 8:30 a.m. [insert name of AOR] meeting [i.e. breakfast, lunch or special event].
3. Add "winner not be present to win" on the flyer.
4. Disclosures: All funds collected must be for CREPAC/Federal and no corporate checks and/or credit cards are allowed only personal checks and/or credit cards are accepted.
Third Step
Contest Rules: Must be on the back of the flyer. Click on "sample contest rules" that have been approved by C.A.R. Legal Department. The document is in word format so you can copy to your desk top and insert the necessary information.
Please be sure to submit your flyer and contest rules to C.A.R. for final legal approval.
Remember: Affiliates can help defray costs by sponsoring the food, room, decorations and printing costs.
