C.A.R. has launched its Defense Litigation and Claims Repository for use by its' Strategic Defense Attorney Referral Panel and Legal Department. The Attorney Referral Panel was created in September 2005 as part of C.A.R.’s Strategic Defense Program. The panel of real estate defense attorneys is charged with improving the litigation climate and addressing the affordability and availability of errors and omissions liability insurance for C.A.R. members in California. The Defense Litigation and Claims Repository component of the Strategic Defense Program enables members of the Attorney Referral Panel to access pooled resources and legal writings and opinions to assist in the defense of claims against REALTORS®, as well as allow panel participants to analyze claims.The Attorney Referral Panel also is utilized as a collective think tank to generate innovative solutions to issues facing REALTORS® in the litigation arena. The Program supports REALTORS® with direct assistance by providing a list of experienced defense attorneys to defend a claim or lawsuit, as well as indirect assistance through its Risk Management Seminar Series, where attorneys offer valuable insights and strategies to minimize the legal exposure of real estate brokers and agents.
