Scott Kucirek selected to lead C.A.R.'s CALMLS Initiative

Industry veteran and real estate technology entrepreneur Scott Kucirek has been selected to lead C.A.R.’s CALMLS initiative, marking a significant milestone in the movement toward creation of California’s only statewide multiple-listing and property information service.

Kucirek’s role will be to oversee all aspects of the development and operations of CALMLS, with close direction from the CALMLS board of directors, a 17-member team of California REALTORS®, and senior C.A.R. staff.

"We are really pleased that Scott will be heading this groundbreaking effort to implement the California statewide MLS," said Mike Silvas, CALMLS chairman and co-owner of Morgan Lane Real Estate, based in Napa, Calif. "Scott's impressive accomplishments in our industry, extensive experience in devising and employing innovative technologies, and proven business acumen will serve CALMLS and California's REALTORS® well as we develop the CALMLS vision into the MLS of the future."

California Statewide MLS Highlights

The vendor selection process for the California statewide MLS is actively underway.  The features of the system will be guided by principles adopted by the C.A.R. board of directors in 2005, which call for ensuring that the California statewide MLS be member-centric.  Some of the anticipated features include:

Ø       One database based on an open API to open the door to more options and innovation in user interfaces (the front end look and feel of the software) from MLS vendors.

Ø       One Internet Data Exchange (IDX) feed for IDX websites without having to reconcile listing information from multiple sources.

Ø       One set of MLS rules.

Ø       One MLS orientation.

Ø       One source for all real property information, regardless of its location within California.

Ø       World-class technology that is fast and intuitive.

A broker will be able to join the California statewide MLS through any participating AOR or MLS in the state to obtain access; his or her salespersons will be able to join through the same or a different participating AOR or MLS.  This will allow more choices for members and increased access to real property information without a confusing array of different rules, enforcement philosophies and systems.
