Title: Payroll Specialist

Group: Finance

Reports To: Accounting Manager

 

California Association of Realtors is looking for an experienced payroll-specialist to join their team!  You will be the key person managing payroll and will respond to any payroll related questions from the staff.  To be successful in this role you must know payroll management from A to Z, payroll principles, laws and regulation.  You should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. You will also need a passion for learning new skills and growth.  An outstanding candidate must be able to work independently and possess excellent people, communication, organizational, and analytical skills, in addition to a high numerical aptitude with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for around 150 employees
  • Verify e-time punches and download data for payroll processing
  • Prepare and process all employee payments
  • Maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Respond to payroll related questions from employees
  • Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger to the payroll records
  • Process garnishment orders from various agencies, etc.
  • Input and reconcile employer/employee 401(k) contributions and transmit to third party administrator provider
  • Process new hires, terminations, salary change, and departmental changes in ADP
  • Prepare and review payroll reports before submission to ADP
  • Processes manual payroll checks, as needed
  • Ensure accuracy of paid time-off accruals
  • Liaise with other departments including Human Resources and Information Technology
  • Assist with any audits related to payroll

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as, Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years of related payroll experience
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now, and ADP Time & Attendance
  • Prefer Payroll Certification

Skills Required:

  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service orientation
  • Ability to function effectively in a variety of challenging situations and circumstances, including project deadlines, demanding customers, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives
    Ability to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance
  • Consistency in giving feedback regarding work progress, timetable and issues
