Job Title: Staff Attorney

Reports To: Vice President and Assistant General Counsel

Are you someone who enjoys delivering legal services and legal information to members of an association? We are looking for a Staff Attorney to provide legal advice and counsel to the Association and its members.

Responsibilities:

• Personal legal consultation
• Live lecture
• Develop, draft, and/or edit educational materials and communications for distribution to Association members
• Various services in association with state and federal appellate matters
• Provide legal advice and counsel in response to member written and telephone inquiries with a minimum of 26 calls per day
• Provide legal articles and other legal materials for the C.A.R. magazine.
• Fulfill legal research project assignments
• Give legal outreach presentations
• Assist C.A.R. Realtor/Consumer Protection, Standard Forms, Insurance, Finance and Tax
• Committees on the State level.
• Database research and word processing
• Perform other job duties as needed

Basic Qualifications:

• JD from ABA Approved law school
• Current member of California State Bar
• 3+ years as practicing attorney

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Ability to function effectively in a variety of challenging situations and circumstances, including difficult project deadlines, demanding customers, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives
• Ability to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner.
• Excellent work ethic and attendance
• Consistency in giving feedback regarding work progress, timetable and issues
