Android smartphones have excellent cameras which offer the ability to perform many tasks. One of which is scanning Quick Response codes or QR codes as they are more commonly referred to.
By scanning a QR code, you can get additional information about a product or service. QR codes were initially created and used in the automotive industry, but have since become popular with consumer advertising. Even some “for sale” signs displayed on homes for sale provide QR codes.
There are many free QR code readers available, but we’re going to demonstrate how to use the free app called “Quickmark QR Code Reader.”
1. From the Google Play store, search for the free Quickmark app and install it on your Android smartphone.
2. Launch the app from the home menu and then tap “Scan Barcodes.” Doing so will open up a camera with a boxed reticle.
3. Place the QR code within the box and hold your smartphone as steady as you can. Your Android mobile device automatically will scan the code and immediately display the contents within that code on the screen.
Once the app has read the QR code, the decoded information will pop-up, enabling the user to do things with the data such as read the text, have access to web links, add contact information to their phones, and much more.
