Every year, as part of C.A.R.’s mid-year business meetings,
California REALTORS® convene in Sacramento for the annual Legislative Day. The
event allows REALTORS® and legislators to meet and discuss issues integral to
real estate practitioners and the housing industry. In the wake of the budget
struggles and a wave of new housing-related tax breaks and laws, there will be
plenty for you and your representatives to discuss. Legislative Day takes place
June 3 during C.A.R.’s June business meetings. Assemblyman Roger Niello
(R-Sacramento) will address C.A.R. members, and, at press time, Attorney
General Jerry Brown is an unconfirmed speaker. To learn more about this event,
visit http://gov.car.org
or call (800) 337-9285.
In addition, C.A.R. will present the California REALTOR® Showcase during the
June business meetings. The free Showcase will feature numerous exhibits to
help REALTORS® stay informed about the latest real estate products and
services. The Showcase also features a 2009 Mid-year Forecast Luncheon and a
variety of seminars. While admission to the Showcase Exhibit Hall is free to
C.A.R. members, registration is required.
Online registration for the Showcase, Legislative Day, the 2009 Mid-year
Forecast Luncheon, and seminars will be available April 7 for association
executives and April 8 for attendees. Nominal fees apply for the luncheon and
courses.
A statewide multiple listing service for California REALTORS®—calREDD™—is
another step closer to launching. And REALTORS® can keep abreast of the latest
calREDD™ developments at www.calredd.com
. The site provides information for REALTORS® about
calREDD™ products, services, rules, policies, product demos and videos,
and a calendar of upcoming events. To date, 69 local REALTOR®
associations and four regional MLSs representing more than 120,000
members across the state already have signed letters of intent to
participate in calREDD™.
Saturday Live Legal Hotline
Starting April 4, C.A.R. Members can access the Legal Hotline on Saturdays from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An attorney will be available to take calls on a first-come

Consumer Ad Campaign to Hit Radio and Cable Stations
>> On April 20, C.A.R. will launch its 2009 Consumer Advertising Campaign
that highlights the value REALTORS® bring to the transaction. This year’s
campaign features a first—cable television spots—as well as two new radio spots
targeting buyers, updated interactive Web banners placed on popular Web sites,
and search engine marketing on Yahoo! and Google directing consumers to an
updated microsite, www.yourpieceofcalifornia.com
, that reinforces key messages of the radio ads while
providing valuable information for consumers when buying or selling a
home. This new campaign will be a continuation of the 2008 “Your Piece of
California” campaign, and again will include Spanish-language ads that
will appear on Spanish-language radio stations, plus a Spanish-language
microsite: www.lallavedetutranquilidad.com/
.
Visit C.A.R. Online (www.car.org),
and click on the “2009 Consumer Advertising Campaign” button on the home
page. You can listen to the radio spots, view the Web banner ads, and
learn more about the campaign and its history.
The Web site will go live April 20 to coincide with the debut of the new radio
ads. The Web site also reminds consumers why they should use a REALTOR® in all
of their real estate transactions and links to the “Find a REALTOR®” page on
C.A.R. Online (www.car.org).
