NAR Midyear Meetings May 2007

Regarding: Important Events for CaliforniansAs we prepare for the NAR meetings in Washington, D.C., I want to provide you with an overview of key activities for Californians attending the committee and Board of Directors meetings, as well as the Capitol Hill visits with the members of the California Congressional delegation.
1. California NAR Directors Briefing. Tuesday, May 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., New York Room, Lobby Level of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Once again all Californians serving as NAR Directors and committee members will meet for an issues briefing session to preview the issues of concern to California. All NAR directors and committee members must attend. All other Californians are also welcomed. For more information please contact Matthew Roberts at matthewr@car.org or (213) 739-8284.
2. Congressional Issues Briefings. Two Congressional Issues Briefings sessions will be held to prepare you for your visits with your members of Congress. We will be highlighting the "hot issues" that you need to discuss with your members of Congress. Only one session need be attended.Session #1 will be held on Tuesday, May 15 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm, Virginia Suite A&B, Lobby Level of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
Session #2 will be held Wednesday, May 16 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, Balcony B, Mezzanine of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.Californians planning on attending the Hill visits with members of Congress must attend. A reception in honor of the California Congressional Delegation willbe held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Montpelier Room of the Madison Building of the Library of Congress. Invitations have been extended to each of the California representatives and their staffs.
Please note: The NAR RPAC Reception for Golden & Crystal R's and President's Circle is scheduled at the same time. The Officers expect that all Californians will attend the California Reception especially the FPCs.
A secure baggage check area will be available for those C.A.R. members whose flight schedules may require them to come straight to the reception from the airport.4. Congressional Visits. Visits with the members of Congress will be held on Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17. Please visit the Capitol Hill Visit Schedule Web Page for more information and to contact the appropriate Federal Political Coordinator listed for each member of Congress if you would like to attend the appointment.5. MLS/ProStandards Committees Briefing. Wednesday, May 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Maryland Suite B, Lobby Level of the MarriottWardman Park Hotel. NAR Legislative and Political Forum. The Legislative and Political Forum will be held Tuesday, May 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Marriott Ballroom, Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
7. Region 13 Caucus. Friday, May 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Marriott Ballroom Salon 3 of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. All California NAR Directors must attend.
8. C.A.R. NAR Directors' Candidate Forum for 2008 NAR President-Elect. Wednesday, May 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Marriott Ballroom Salon 2 of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Attendance Limited to California NAR Directors.9. Issues Paper. Below you will find a link for the Federal Legislative Priorities on pendingfederal issues. Also included are copies of specific committee agenda summaries, agendas for the California NAR Directors Briefing and both Congressional Issues Briefings sessions, including a schedule of the Capitol Hill appointments with a matrixshowing committee assignments and issues of importance for each member of Congress.
