Mission Statement: The Local Governmental Relations Committee supports the interests of REALTORS® in local governmental affairs. The Committee monitors, analyzes, and recommends policies relating to local and regional issues, and assists REALTORS® in developing programs which impact local and regional governmental actions.

All agenda items were discussed except for Item IV. a. Housing Element/Legislative Climate because C.A.R. lobbying staff had a scheduling conflict and could not make this presentation.GAD Update
Michon Coleman, GAD Subcommittee Chair, announced the upcoming GAD Institute, which will be held Wednesday – Friday, August 8-10, 2007 at the Humphrey’s Half Moon Inn in San Diego.

The following local issues were raised: smart growth conference in Tuolomne County; S.O.A.R. initiative in Ventura County; rent control, tenant protection ordinance involving an increase in tenant relocation fees, and a building moratorium in Los Angeles and West Hollywood; SCAQMD proposed point-of-sale fireplace/wood stove measure affecting Riverside and San Bernardino Counties; road-building equipment retrofits to decrease greenhouse gas emissions in Tulare County; moratorium on condo conversions, anti-big box retailer sentiments, and underground parking restrictions in San Diego County; mansionization restrictions in South Bay; condo conversions in the San Francisco East Bay.IMPAC Updates
Ernie Cowan, GAD for North San Diego County AOR, discussed the design review/mansionization issue in Solano Beach. Sheryl McKenzie, GAD for Monterey County AOR, discussed the land use initiative concerning Monterey County’s GeneralPlan. Chip Ahlswede, GAD for Arcadia AOR, discussed the Sierra Madre growth control campaign.
New Business
Committee members requested that information sharing items be documented in full detail for future reference. C.A.R. staff agreed to come up with a process for providing this information.Adjournment
