2012 Winter RAF Committee Meeting Notes

Chair Emily Link called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. Emily welcomed everyone to their first meeting and introduced her leadership team: Doug Covill, Vice Chair, Barry Zwahlen, Vice Chair, Judy Zeigler, Committee Liaision and C.A.R. staff, David Howard, Lynn Movryodis and Lisa Edwards.
After some discussion about what the "True Cost of Doing Business" was for the AEs and/or GADs to attend the Capitol Reception, the following recommendation was made:
It was moved by Dorothy Jackson, seconded and CARRIED that the "True Cost of Doing Business" was $148 for REALTOR members/Affliates, AEs, and/or GADS to attend the Capitol Reception.
C.A.R. Updates:
Carol Facciponti, CREPAC Chair thanked the committee for all their hard work in raising RAF funds and that the CREPAC Trustees were preparing for the 2012 Election Cycle.
Les Fishman, IMPAC Chair gave an update on IMPAC and encouraged everyone to use their funds and that the IMPAC Trustees are avaiable to assist them.
Art Nellessen, Chair PAF reported that the PAF had not met yet, but looks forward to an exciting year.
DeAnn Kerr, Member Mobilization Consultant, introdcued the new Central California field represenative Karim Drissir.
NAR Updates:
Sharon Bowler, RPAC Region 13 Trustee reported the 2012 California Goals: Fair Share goal for 2012 is $706,000 the Major Donor goal is 651; the NAR President Circel goal is 68 and participation is 37%.
Barry Zwahlen gave the REALTOR Action Fund Update:
2011 Recap: $1,550,000 in RAF contributions with 12% of our 159,000 members participating.
2012 Focus: The RAF focus: Homeownership Matters!
2012 Objective: The RAF objective is to raise $1.75 million in RAF voluntary contributions and to have 20% RAF voluntary participation.
2012 Participation Levels: The California Association of REALTORS® recognizes and appreciates those members that take the next step and become a RAF Major Donor. Below is a description of the various levels of participation.
REALTOR® Action Fund
The $49 "minimum cost of doing business"
The $148 contribution includes a new RAF pin given upon initial contribution, a new ribbon is given to a member annually and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento.
California Silver Bear
$449 Contribution Annually - Silver Bear pin given upon initial contribution, a new ribbon given to a member annually and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento.
C.A.R. President Circle Club
When you contribute a lifetime contribution of $1,000 to the REALTOR® Action Fund, you will receive your first President Circle pin that C.A.R. will update when you reach each $1,000 milestone, up to $10,000.
Lifetime contributors exceeding $10,001 will receive a gold RAF President Circle Pin.
V.I.P. C.A.R. President's Circle Club Card
Members who achieve a lifetime accumulation of $10K or above, and who are current RAF contributors will receive a Personalized C.A.R. Gold President's Circle Card to include the following benefits:
Designated VIP bar at C.A.R. receptions;
Priority seating at Legislative Day/Expo luncheons (Advanced payment required for C.A.R. luncheons);
Guaranteed reservation at host hotel for all C.A.R. meetings (Advanced reservation with standard processing fee required);
10% discount on the REBS course “Tech On Demand.”
Doug Covill, Vice Chair, reported that part of the 2012 RAF Leadership mission is to create a RAF Committee within each association for the sole purpose of increasing voluntary RAF contributions. The two objectives is to 1. Educate members, at the local level, regarding the importance of contributing to RAF by utilizing strategies and messaging and 2. Creat and sustain a recognition program for voluntary RAF contributors at the local level. For more information, please visit the RAF webpage.
2012 Contest:
Part 1: The Association that collects the most voluntary RAF contributions within their category (Petite, Small, Medium I and Medium II, Large and Jumbo) will receive a check in amount of $1000 to be used at the Local Association's discretion, as well as an award to be displayed at the Local Association.
Part 2: The Association that shows the greatest improvement in their RAF voluntary participation within their category (Petite, Small, Medium I and Medium II, Large and Jumbo) will receive a check in amount of $1000 to be used at the Local Association's discretion, as well as an award to be displayed at the Local Association.
Association Category Breakdown:
Petite 1-200 members
Small 201-500 members
Medium I 501-1500 members
Medium II: 1510-3000 members
Large: 3001-6000 members
Jumbo: 6000+ members
