2011 Winter RAF Committee Meeting Notes

Chair Judy Zeigler called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. Judy welcomed everyone to their first meeting and introduced her leadership team: Emily Link, Vice Chair, Gregg Pawlik, Vice Chair, Sharon Bowler, Committee Liaision and C.A.R. staff, David Howard, Lynn Movryodis and Lisa Edwards.
After some discussion about what the "True Cost of Doing Business" was for the AEs and/or GADs to attend the Capitol Reception, the following recommendation was made:
It was moved by Dorothy Jackson, seconded and CARRIED that the "True Cost of Doing Business" was $197 for REALTOR members/Affliates, AEs, and/or GADS to attend the Capitol Reception.
C.A.R. Updates:
Mike Teer, CREPAC Chair thanked the committee for all their hard work in raising RAF funds and that the CREPAC Trustees were preparing for the 2012 Election Cycle.
Terry Wunderlich, IMPAC Chair reported on the IMPAC outreach program and start up GAD program.
Joyce, Chair PAF reported that the PAF Committee wanted to express to the RAF Committee to keep the mid-level RAF voluntary levels.
DeAnn Kerr, Member Mobilization Consultant, reported that the Broker Involvement Program had about 670 brokers and that we need to continue to recruit brokers into the program.
NAR Updates:
Chris Polychron, NAR Member Mobilization Liaison reported that 42% of the "Big" Brokers are involved in the Broker Involvement Program and encouraged to get more Brokers involved to help with the "big" issue of Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID), because it is the best way to reach the members.
Jim Liptak, Chair of RPIC, reminded all the FPCs that NAR is making them more accountable for their reports. There will only be one FPC per Legislator.
Sharon Bowler, RPAC Region 13 Trustee reported the 2011 California Goals: Fair Share goal for 2011 is $735,152, the Major Donor goal is 651; the NAR President Circel goal is 68 and participation is 37%.
2010 Recap: $2,875,893 in RAF contributions with 20% of our 165,170 members participating.
2011 Goal: The RAF goal is to continue fighting for our profession by creating and sustaining a fundraising campaign that will focus on protecting our industry over the next several years! The major challenge facing us in 2011 is saving and protecting the Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID).
2011 Objective: The RAF objective is to raise $1.5 million in RAF voluntary contributions and to have 20% RAF voluntary participation.
2011 Participation Levels: The California Association of REALTORS® recognizes and appreciates those members that take the next step and become a RAF Major Donor. Below is a description of the various levels of participation.
REALTOR® Action Fund
Your $148 contribution includes a new RAF pin given upon initial contribution, a new ribbon is given to a member annually and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento.
Major Donor Levels
California Silver Bear (formerly known as California Sterling "R")
$449 Contribution Annually - New Silver Bear pin given upon initial contribution, a new ribbon given to a member annually and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento.
California Golden "R" (At this level, you will also be a NAR Sterling "R")
$1,549 Initial Contribution and $449 Annually - California Golden "R" pin given upon initial investment, a new ribbon given to a member annually, an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento and an invitation to attend C.A.R.'s annual Golden "R" Reception held at the fall C.A.R. meeting.
N.A.R. Crystal "R"
$2,500 Initial Contribution and $1,500 Annually. NAR Crystal "R" pin given upon initial investment from NAR, invitation from NAR to attend their special functions during NAR meetings, a new ribbon given to a member annually from C.A.R., an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento, and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Golden "R" Reception held during the fall C.A.R. meetings.
N.A.R. Golden "R"
$5,000 Initially and $2,000 Annually. $449 Annual Renewal for Chartered NAR Golden "R's" prior to 01.01.02. NAR Golden "R" pin given upon initial contribution from NAR, invitation from NAR to attend their special functions during NAR meetings, a new ribbon given to a member annually from C.A.R., an invitation to the C.A.R.'s Capitol Reception held during Legislative Day in Sacramento, and an invitation to C.A.R.'s annual Golden "R" Reception held during the fall C.A.R. meetings.
C.A.R. President Circle Club
When you contribute a lifetime contribution of $1,000 to the REALTOR® Action Fund, you will receive your first President Circle pin that C.A.R. will update when you reach each $1,000 milestone, up to $10,000.
Lifetime contributors exceeding $10,001 will receive a solid gold RAF President Circle Pin for each subsequent lifetime level; contributors will receive a new pin with the appropriate colored stones to reflect their monumental contribution.
$15,001-$20,000 (Ruby stone)
$20,001-$25,000 (Ruby and Emerald stones)
Hall Of Fame Level:
$25,001-$30,000 (Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire stones
$30,001 and above (Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Amethyst stones)
V.I.P. C.A.R. President's Circle Club Card
Members who achieve a lifetime accumulation of $10K or above, and who are current RAF contributors will receive a Personalized C.A.R. Gold President's Circle Card to include the following benefits:
Designated VIP bar at C.A.R. receptions;
Priority seating at Legislative Day/Expo luncheons (Advanced payment required for C.A.R. luncheons);
Guaranteed reservation at host hotel for all C.A.R. meetings (Advanced reservation with standard processing fee required);
10% discount on the REBS course “Tech On Demand.”
2011 Contest:
Part 1: The Association that collects the most voluntary RAF contributions within their category (Petite, Small, Medium I and Medium II, Large and Jumbo) will receive a check in amount of $1000 to be used at the Local Association's discretion, as well as an award to be displayed at the Local Association.
Part 2: The Association that shows the greatest improvement in their RAF voluntary participation within their category (Petite, Small, Medium I and Medium II, Large and Jumbo) will receive a check in amount of $1000 to be used at the Local Association's discretion, as well as an award to be displayed at the Local Association.
Part 3: The Association that recruits the most new Major Donors, starting at the California Silver Bear level will be recognized with a magnificent award to be displayed at the Local Association.
Association Category Breakdown:
Petite 1-200 members
Small 201-500 members
Medium I 501-1500 members
Medium II: 1510-3000 members
Large: 3001-6000 members
Jumbo: 6000+ members
