NAR’s REALTOR® Party Political Survival Initiative Update: Vince Malta reported on NAR’s proposal to raise dues by $40 beginning in 2012. The dues increase is part of REALTOR® Party Political Survival Initiative (RPPSI) designed to increase NAR’s political advocacy. The initiative is the result of a yearlong study and consideration, following the Supreme Court’s 2010 ruling in the Citizens United case which allows dues (or corporate) dollars to be used to partnership between the National Association of REALTORS® and our state and local associations to provide financial and technical support for conducting independent expenditures to elect “REALTOR® Champions” to federal, state and local public offices.
Leslie Rouda Smith, Political Fundraising Liaison: Thanked them for all their hard work and commitment and encouraged them to participate, as well as encourage the colleagues to do so. She reported that RPAC is introducing a new “2015 Achievement Award” recognizing states which have already met the 2015 goal for 1 percent of members as Major Investors. For a comprehensive selection of programs and resources, please visit the REALTOR Action Center on the various issues facing REALTORS® and encouraged them to participate at all levels.
Jim Liptak, Chair of RPIC, reported that we need to get Broker’s signed up for the Broker Involvement Program. And he further reminded them NAR is making all FPCs more accountable for their reports. There will only be one FPC per Legislator. He further reported to respond to NAR Red Alerts…
Sharon Bowler, RPAC Region 13 Trustee reported that C.A.R. had met its Fair Share goal for 2011 at $740,000 for 101%.
