NAR $5000 Grant Clarification- Learn how your local association can get
their $5,000 grant! We want to help you put "FUN" back into
FUNDRAISING!
There seems to be some confusion on how to use the $5,000 NAR/RAF Grant
money. The NAR/RAF grant money can be used to provide either educational
seminars on the importance of investing in RAF or to host a fundraising
activity. When conducting a fundraising activity, the dollars
provided through the NAR/RAF grant are to be used for expenses incurred
(i.e. food, decorations, venue costs, flyers, advertisement, educational
materials in any form, etc.) while completing an approved fundraising
activity.
These activity expenses in no way obligate the association to raise a
specified dollar amount. Please note that grant monies used for prizes that
are awarded to attendees through drawings or auctions require associations
to raise 3 times the actual cost of the item or items being given away
(i.e. cost for the prizes awarded = $100; the association must raise $300
to account for that item).
For an example of how this program really works below is a real world
scenario that will better serve to guide associations through this
program.
For example: An association wants to host a fundraising
luncheon and in order to encourage participation, chooses to have a drawing
where attendees could win a laptop. The cost to attend this luncheon could
be set by the association at any level, but for this scenario, let’s set it
at $50. The catering cost would be covered by the NAR/RAF grant, and the
entirety of the $50 entry fee would go into RAF’s CREPAC/Federal
account.
Let’s go one step further, if the association decided purchase a laptop for
their drawing that cost $1,000, the fundraiser would need to net 3 times
the value of the prize ($3,000) in order to satisfy the NAR/RAF grant
criteria. The minimum attendance that the association would need to meet
this obligation would be 60 people.
Disclosures:
All funds collected must be for
CREPAC/Federal and no corporate checks and/or credit cards are allowed only
PERSONAL checks and/or credit cards are accepted.
