The two-day program includes developing resources, creating teams of professional contacts, and building the business to serve the various senior niches.
The three requirements to attain and use the SRES® designation are:

Successful completion of the live lecture, two-day SRES® Designation course, including an 80% passing grade on the 55 question, multiple choice, closed book, final exam. One hour is allotted for the exam.
Maintain active membership in the National Association of REALTORS®.
Maintain an active membership in the SRES® Council.
The first year of membership in the SRES® Council is included with the SRES® Designation course fee. However, every year thereafter will require payment of annual dues of $99.

The SRES® training offers 12 credit hours of continuing education in the category of Consumer Service.

The course materials are included in the course fee. At certain locations, students may have the option of registering at a reduced course fee and downloading a PDF version of the course materials.

Prior to the seminar, students must submit a government issued or real estate trade association issued picture ID. Students must attend all 12 hours of the markets/Core course training. Students who are more than 70 minutes late must reschedule. Students are required to attend a minimum of 90% of the clock hours. The course exam is a multiple-choice question, closed book exam. The time allowed is one minute per question.

Agents must pass the fifty-five question exam with a minimum score of 80% to graduate. The final exam is administered during the last hour of the class.

Distressed Properties is a 4-hour, live-lecture course with continuing education credits in Consumer Protection.  This course familiarizes real estate agents with the procedures used in the sale and disposition of distressed properties. In certain markets, homeowners are unable to make their mortgage payments in a timely manner. Neil D. Kalin joined the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® in 1987 and is now Assistant General Counsel.  He is the senior legal advisor to C.A.R.’s Standard Forms Committee, provides advice to C.A.R. members on the Legal Hotline, and writes many of C.A.R.’s Appellate Court Briefs. 

Neil is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and has served as a Judge Pro Tem and a volunteer mediator and arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The course trains agents how to profitably work with various generations of seniors dealing with issues such as how title is held, managing capital gains, determining their true cost of housing, aging-in-place, or obtaining a reverse mortgage. The two-day program includes developing resources, creating teams of professional contacts, and building the business to serve the various senior niches.
The three requirements to attain and use the SRES® designation are:

Successful completion of the live lecture, two-day SRES® Designation course, including an 80% passing grade on the 55 question, multiple choice, closed book, final exam. One hour is allotted for the exam.
Maintain active membership in the National Association of REALTORS®.
Maintain an active membership in the SRES® Council.
The first year of membership in the SRES® Council is included with the SRES® Designation course fee. However, every year thereafter will require payment of annual dues of $99.

The SRES® training offers 12 credit hours of continuing education in the category of Consumer Service.

The course materials are included in the course fee. At certain locations, students may have the option of registering at a reduced course fee and downloading a PDF version of the course materials.

Prior to the seminar, students must submit a government issued or real estate trade association issued picture ID. Students must attend all 12 hours of the markets/Core course training. Students who are more than 70 minutes late must reschedule. Students are required to attend a minimum of 90% of the clock hours. The course exam is a multiple-choice question, closed book exam. The time allowed is one minute per question.

Agents must pass the fifty-five question exam with a minimum score of 80% to graduate. The final exam is administered during the last hour of the class.

Gov Hutchinson is Assistant General Counsel of the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.  Gov has been with C.A.R. since 1985 and manages C.A.R.’s Member Legal Services Program in Los Angeles.  Gov advises REALTORS® through the “Hotline” on all aspects of real estate law and he trains and supervises other “Hotline” attorneys.

Gov received his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Princeton University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

Distressed Properties is a 4-hour, live-lecture course with continuing education credits in Consumer Protection.  This course familiarizes real estate agents with the procedures used in the sale and disposition of distressed properties. It reveals opportunities for business with sellers, buyers, and lenders, and provides a clear understanding of agents' responsibilities. The job description and required paperwork changes according to whom the agent is representing.
