Website push notifications are quick messages that we can send to you through your browser if you have agreed to receive news and updates from us. Here is an example of what a notification looks like on your desktop:
We will send Red Alerts, news, event updates, and other important information you do not want to miss. Subscribe by clicking on the blue "Choose Now" button followed by the "Allow" button to agree to receive the push notifications.
To unsubscribe from push notifications, right-click any of our push message to block future communication or access your browser's notification settings.
Google Chrome
Hit the three vertical dots menu button in the upper-right corner and select Settings. Use the search box near the top center to search for Notifications. Next, click Content settings and select Notifications. If you want to disable all notifications, toggle the slider beside, “Ask before sending.” If you want to disable only notifications from car.org specifically, scroll down until you locate the site in the Allow column. Click the three horizontal dots beside https://www.car.org:443 and select Block or Remove from the list of options.
Mozilla Firefox
Click the three vertical lines Menu button and select Options. Next, go to Privacy and Security, scroll to Permissions, and click the Settings button to the right of “Notifications.” Here, you can choose which websites can and cannot send you notifications. If you’re looking to remove car.org, select it and click Remove Website.
Microsoft Edge
Click the Menu button represented by the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner. Then, move your mouse to the bottom of the list and click Settings. Scroll to the bottom and hit View Advanced Settings. Once there, click Manage, which is located within Website Permissions. On the resulting page, you can toggle which websites you want to receive notifications from, including car.org.
Safari
Click Safari from within the application menu bar. Next, click Preferences and select the Notifications pane, which will bring up a list of websites you currently receive notifications from. If you want to disable push notifications across the board, highlight your selection and click Remove All in the bottom-left corner. Otherwise, select car.org from the list and click Remove.
The pop-up window to subscribe to push notifications appears every time you visit car.org.
