The Systems and Network Administrator performs data center systems engineering, systems administration, and centralized operations and management of the Association’s computing facilities and environment. The environment includes Microsoft Windows servers, SQL Servers, Exchange, VMware, storage appliances, racks, and UPS. The role is also responsible for maintaining the Cisco-based Network, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in Cisco Network technologies including ASA firewall, Wireless, Routing and switching.

Perform Systems Engineering • Operational Capacity Planning, and engineering appropriate physical and virtual systems, servers, appliances, and environments • Perform initial server rack installations, operating system installations, secure configuration and patching per security standards, and turnover for administration and operation • Engineer and support secure and cost effective Virtual Desktop Infrastructure • Develop Operational and Security Standards, Procedures, Practices, Documentation • Manage, plan, and report quarterly on software license utilization
Manage and Perform Systems Administration • Administer Microsoft and VMware systems and servers • Administer Storage Devices and SAN • Plan, test, and install server patches, and administer centralized anti-virus, and anti-malware • Administer host intrusion detection and prevention • Provide Operational Metrics & Reporting • Support services like Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, SMTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NTP
Perform Network Administration • Plan, integrate and implement information systems infrastructure projects, including networks and software applications to support the Association’s strategic objectives. • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, change management and security controls. • Perform network design and implementation of architected network solutions in a client server environment to include networking hardware, software, protocols, and communication standards. • Monitor, analyze and report network traffic patterns, as well as utilization of dedicated telecommunications equipment. • Manage and maintain quality of service for VoIP, Video and Data on LAN/WAN.
Demonstrate ability to make independent and appropriate decisions without direct supervision.
Evaluate server and desktop virtualization environments and implement processes for evaluating uptime, performance and selecting future systems.
Experience Required • Five years of successful experience in a similar role (with similar responsibilities). • Solid understanding of TCP/IP Networks, including 3+ years’ experience with Cisco gear. • Three years of experience administering a Virtual Server environment (VMware ESXi strongly preferred). • Hands on experience with installing, upgrading and troubleshooting Cisco data network and wireless networks.
Skills Required • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding customer service orientation. • Must be able to function effectively in a variety of challenging situations and circumstances, including difficult project deadlines, demanding customers, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives. • Must be able to work others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner. • Must be a results-oriented team player. • Ability to multi-task while solving issues quickly and efficiently. • Ability to listen to and objectively consider ideas and suggestions from others. • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, subnetting, SVI, spanning-tree concepts, and ability to install and troubleshoot LAN switches and routers • Excellent understanding of VPN technology including site-to-site VPN and remote client VPN (AnyConnect VPN). Ability to work with site-to-site and remote VPN tunnels in a Cisco ASA firewall. • Relevant certifications (e.g.: MCSE, MCSD, CCNA, CCNP) a plus.
